Different Content Levels: Depending on the students in the class, the content levels of this unit can be adjusted to meet the needs of the students. For example, in the mathematics week, students can go very in depth into the statistics behind the data they have collected, or they can stay more surface level and just look for simple averages.
Group Activity Supports: Students will reap the benefits of mixed grouping all throughout the unit. Group activity supports will help students complete the PSA Project and create a meaningful video that will help their peers understand how the media influences our body image.
Graphic Organizers: Both the English and Mathematics weeks utilize graphic organizers to help student better organize information and understand concepts. These graphic organizers will help many students, including special education and English learners.
Vocabulary: During the English week, students will define ethos, pathos, and logos in a concept map. This will help students learn the definitions of these terms and gain a better understanding of them.
Multi-sensory Activities: The PSA Project is a multi-sensory activity. Students will be able to use technology, utilize their drawing and writing skills (in the script and storyboard) , and some will even get to express themselves with acting.
